You can visit the lake at any time of the year. The weather is consistently pleasant and mild. However, the dry seasons from June to September offer the most sunshine. These months are perfect for water activities and beach lounging. Nevertheless, the wet seasons also provide many sunny intervals between short tropical rains.

A day trip to Rubavu is possible but involves five hours of driving. Therefore, we recommend staying at least one or two nights. This allows you to truly enjoy a boat cruise or a relaxing morning on the beach. Lake Kivu is best enjoyed at a slow and peaceful pace.
